Home Among Foreigners

In 2011 Romania recorded the highest level of immigration to Germany looking for work. At that time, approximately 110,000 Romanians were registered as legal migrants. Daniela Apostoaei completed the documentary series “Home Among Foreigners” consisted of 12 programs presenting the lives of different Romanian people living and working in Germany. It was an honest and unflinching look at the difficulties and obstacles they faced as they went through the integration process in a new society, culture and country.

In September 2016 Daniela Apostoaei had the privilege to attend Travis Technique Intensive Course for Directors at Nvisionate Studios in Los Angeles California.

During the workshop, we laughed, we played, we explored and experimented. Mark W. Travis has empowered our skills as film directors who came together from many countries around the world: Australia, Sri Lanka, Lithuania, Canada, New Zealand and the US. We were all eager to be fed with new ideas, new insights, receiving new tools and techniques.

Omatsuri – means “a festival” in Japanese is a traditional community celebration giving thanks for a rich harvest, good health, community , harmony and respect for the ancestors. It is an important cultural festival that originates back several hundred years and continues to this day to Japan.

In the fall of 2003, Daniela Apostoaei had a scholarship to a weekly publication “O Mirante” in the Santarem region of Portugal. The stage offered her the opportunity to work collaboratively with Portuguese journalists to put together a bilingual Romanian-Portuguese magazine. It was showcased the life, customs and traditions of Cartaxo, a twin town of Pucioasa, Romania. The magazine was called: ”Toast for Friendship” and its initial print run was of 20,000 copies. The magazine was launched at the “International Tradition Fair of Cartaxo“ in Santarem, Portugal.

The debut of Canadian International Fashion Film Festival – CANIFFF in 2016 brought together in Calgary, Alberta film producers, fashion designers, journalists, art lovers, various artists. CANIFFF curates a unique experience for fashion and film lovers. The festival is increasing access to fashion in new ways and providing a platform for brands and business who want to engage directly with those working in fashion and film disciplines.
